Dorothy Strachan and Paul Tomlinson are partners in Strachan-Tomlinson and Associates (ST). Dorothy's practice is in three main areas: process design and facilitation, organizational interventions such as strategic planning and team development, and the creation of customized learning programs. She is the author of several books, handbooks, and articles in areas such as facilitation, leadership development, effective coaching in high performance sport, and strategic planning. Publications include "Managing Facilitated Processes" (2009, co-authored with Marian Pitters), "Process Design: Making it Work" (2008, co-authored with Paul Tomlinson), and "Making Questions Work" (2007) – all published by Jossey-Bass/Wiley.
Prior to establishing her own firm, Dorothy was involved in education in the high school and community college systems as teacher and administrator. Her educational background includes degrees in English and Psychology, and various programs in adult education and organizational change.
Paul is the managing partner at ST. In addition, his role involves developing background papers, reports, and guidelines to support ST facilitated initiatives (e.g., meetings, workshops, consultations, projects) that are focused on building agreement, fostering links and partnerships, and developing consensus on complex issues. His approach includes open-ended questionnaires, interviews, surveys and the analysis and synthesis of background documents. Paul's orientation towards critical reflection and problem-centered action is an important facet of this work. He has written numerous reports, papers and workshop guides over the past 35 years.
Paul holds a doctorate in Adult Education from the University of Toronto and has Masters' Degrees in Educational Administration and Physical Education.
